Trip to Wellington (28th October – 8th November 2009)

After two weeks in Malaysia, I finally manage to write the experience about my holiday in Wellington. Yes, trip to Wellington was definitely enjoying! It was fun having a privilege to move around, shop around, hang around, see lots of places and the best of all, spending the best quality time with him J

The journey started on

28th October 2009.

The journey started. Quite nervous since it was my first time travelling alone. By the time I arrived at Wellington Airport, it was midnight. Luckily, he already waited for me. It was cold and windy there.

29th October 2009

We spent time by walking through Wellington City until we arrived Te Papa. Te Papa is New Zealand’s national museum and from there I gained a lot of information about Art, History, Maori People and Natural Environment in New Zealand.

Then, we went for a movie. We both agreed to watch (500) Days of Summer and Yes! We enjoyed the movie =)

30th October 2009

He brought me to the Botanical Garden. It is located in a suburb in the hill overlooking the central city of Wellington. We went there by Cable Car. When we reached there, we visited the Cable Car Museum. Then we walked through the garden. Unfortunately, it was not like I expected since most of the flowers didn’t bloom yet. However, I still enjoyed the moments there. The best moment was when we both had a chat with each other while having cups of great hot chocolate and coffee =)

At night, we went to watch a theatre at St. James Theatre. It’s a musical adventure of Peter Pan. The casts were excellent and the orchestra was great! So, I think it is worth it though the tickets were quite expensive. Anyway, thanks Sayang for paying the ticket. Hehehe.

31st October 2009

Went to Island Bay. However, as the weather was windy and cold, we decided to go back to the city. The best part there was when we still managed to capture some photos. That’s what I like most =)

We walked to Oriental Bay. We hired a bicycle there. He called that “basikal tayar empat dan bumbung macam mulut buaya”. Hehehe.

1st November 2009

Went for a nature’s walk at Karori Wildlife Sanctuary. It’s a protected natural area in Wellington. We met with Tuatara and some birds named Tui, Kaka and Hihi. Funny names right? But I think they are cute =) We managed to walk through all the routes shown on the map although my leg was badly pain. Quite tiring yet it was fun!

2nd November 2009

Started our journey to Rotorua. Went there by bus and it took about 7 hours to arrive there. He read a photography magazine while I enjoyed the spectacular views along the way.

When we arrived there, we booked rooms for two at Cactus Jack Backpackers and tickets to go to Skyline Skyrides. Due to some technical problems, we were not able to ride the gondola and we were asked to come again on the next day. We finally spent that evening at Lake Rotorua and took some pictures.

3rd November 2009

We went to Wai-O-Tapu Geothermal Wonderland. We visited the Mud Pool, Lady Knox Geyser and Thermal Areas. At Lady Knox Geyser, it provides an opportunity to see a geyser in eruption to heights of 10 metres.

Then, we moved on to the thermal area. It’s a colourful place with diverse geothermal sightseeing attraction. It took about 75 minutes for us to see and enjoy the diversity of this area as we followed all the tracks provided for the visitors.

In the evening, we then spent our time in Skyline Skyrides. From there, we can see the panoramic views of Rotorua City and Lake Rotorua. We also did enjoyed riding the Luge. It was fun since we got the opportunity to try all the tracks!

4th November 2009

Journey back to Wellington. So, we spent most our time in the bus. Once again I had the chance to see beautiful views of New Zealand =)

5th November 2009

Just hanging around the city since I needed to start searching for souvenirs for my family and friends. At night, we watched the firework display at Waterfront. The night was so cold! But, I did enjoyed it =)

6th November 2009

We went to Mount Victoria, or Mt.Vic as the locals call it. It is beautiful. It is a spot not to miss if you go to Wellington since it provides us with stunning views of the Wellington City and harbour.

Our next destination was Lyall Bay. I was told by Khirol that the bay is a popular surf beach.

Went back to city and watched a movie. Since I was very tired, I fell asleep while watching the movie. Hehehe.

7th November 2009

Last day in Wellington. Huhu. Went out early in the morning coz we did not want to waste every single moment of that day. Then he brought me to Parliament House (Bee Hive) and VUW, Kelburn Campus. Thought of going to the Botanical Garden again, but due to time constrain, we haven’t got the chance to visit it.

We spent the whole evening at Waterfront. He bought me an ice cream. Heeee =) We sat there, had a chat and rode a paddle boat.

At night, since the weather was too cold and we couldn’t bear with it, we decided to watch a movie again. And once again, I fell asleep while watching the movie. Sorry Sayang, I just couldn’t bear with it. I felt so tired and sleepy. Huhuhu.

Later, went to have some drinks and chat with some of our friends at Momotea.

8th November 2009

Time to go back to Brisbane =( He sent me to Wellington Airport, bought me breakfast and we ate together.

Special Thanks to:

Nadzirah, Kamm, Liyana and all friends in Wellington.

To my dear Khirol, thanks for everything that you have done for me. I really enjoyed myself there =) Thank you very much Sayang! Am looking forward to meet you again. InsyaAllah.

p/s: if you wish to see the pictures taken there, please visit Khirol’s blog since he’s the one who holds the camera =)
